To My Son, Michael

 

 

Dear Michael,

 

I am writing this letter thinking of you.

I hope this retreat is very special to you, because you deserve it.

I always believe that God is with you.                              

Your guardian angel is protecting you.

There is a reason why they do that.

They want you to learn and do something good for other people.

 

Let say we live up to 80 years old, if God permits us.

Now I am 50 and you are 16.

You are the future even before you know it.

 

I believe that God send you in this world using my body.

Out of millions of chance, you were conceived and became a person.

Isn’t that so amazing?

Dad was there when the doctor pull you out from my belly,

     witnessing the mystery and joy of life.

You are a pure hope and true happiness, the gift from God

I promised God that I will raise you at my best, 

     then I would return you to God's hand.

But, then we are not perfect.

There were times I lost my temper and say what I really didn't mean.

There were times I yell and hurt your feeling.

Now, I ask your forgiveness.

I am learning myself how to be a good mother through Holy Mary’s love of Jesus.

 

All I want from you is your happiness.

You do well in school and go to college where you will have opportunity

     to search for your future.

So you can live your life the way you want without regrets.

 

What is God?

I do now know mysefl, but this is what I think.

The concept of God seems quite difficult to comprehend.

It seems much more complicated than the stars in universe.

At the same time it seems as simple as a piece of candy.

 

There is an order in universe, so as in nature on earth.

We are smaller than a dust in the universe, but we are a part of it.

There is a power that controls the whole world.

I will call that it is a divine order, God’s order.

We are created perfectly as a part of it.

Mysteriously, God is within us.

It exists as goodness in our hearts.

God, the Holy Spirit, is within you.

 

If there is goodness, there is badness. They both exist.

True happiness comes from goodness.

Goodness is positive energy and badness is negative energy.

We struggle between them, but we choose goodness over badness.

Goodness wins when we are with God.

Being with God means we pray and ask for God’s help.

 

Your happiness is in your hands.

Believe in yourself and go for it.

God is for the ones who help themselves.

God will reward the result when you work for it one by one,

    step by step.

Now is the most significant turning point in your life.

You can do it.

 

You are a perfect person just who you are.

You have a potential to be someone whom you want to be.

It is your choice. You have a whole deck of card.

Which cards you want to choose and how to play are up to you.

 

Like Father McDonald said,

Everybody can be happy regardless he believes or not, but

God will give us guide us and give us a hope when we are lost, in pain,

     or in sorrow.

When you are scared, when you feel like when you are lost,

God will be there. Holy Mary will be there for you.

You just ask their help.

Listening to God is learning from Jesus’ teaching.

Reading Jesus’ life in the Bible will give you an idea,

   what is God and goodness.

It will give us the ultimate truth and happiness in life.

 

When we are with God, the whole world is ours.

We can overcome any obstacles, become wise,

    and taste the true happiness.

 

Jesus died for us. He wants to take our pain.

So we can live happily with hope.

Open your heart and give your worrisome, fear,

    and negative thoughts to him.

And fill your pure heart with Holy Spirit.

Then see where God leads you.

 

You are on the life journey.

It is about time you will go on your own.

You are not destined. You make your destiny.

God is your backbone. You have nothing to fear.

With a help of Holy Spirit, you can come out of your shell and be a powerful person no one could imagine. 

 

You are the most precious one in my life.

If there is one thing I want from you is your acceptance of God,

    the Holy Spirit.

I promise I pray for you every day until I die.

Even after I died I will pray for you.

I am thankful to God that you are my son, our son.

 

You will bloom and find the purpose of life journey.

I believe in you.
